NORTH BRANCH'S AARON ROBILLARD NAMED A SCHOLAR ATHLETE

Robillard and the other winners, chosen for academic excellence, leadership and community involvement, will be recognized at the 11th Annual Minnesota Football Honors on April 29.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - March 16, 2018 -  The Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation is pleased to announce North Branch Area High School student Aaron Robillard as a 2018 Scholar Athlete. Robillard and the other winners, chosen for academic excellence, leadership and community involvement, will be recognized at the 11th Annual Minnesota Football Honors on April 29 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

“Aaron Robillard is an amazing individual that spends countless hours on his schooling, on his athletics and in his community,” Vikings coach Sam Ferraro said. “Mr. Robillard is the ultimate team player on and off the field. He is a great role model for all ages, kids and adults alike. His work ethic is second to none. I feel very blessed to have coached a young man like Aaron Robillard and I hope that every coach is as lucky as I have been to have the experience to coach a young man with the overall attributes that he possesses.”

Robillard made the Minnesota Vikings All-State roster and was nominated for Mr. Football last season. He was the state’s top rushing quarterback with 1,840 yards and 26 touchdowns on the ground. He was also the total offense leader, adding 1,397 yards and 14 touchdowns passing. Robillard was named team captain and MVP after a season in which he led the Vikings to the section championship. He also wrestled and played basketball and baseball.

Academically, Robillard earned six Academic All-Conference accolades and ranks near the top of his class while taking difficult coursework. He is an officer in National Honor Society and has been named Student of the Trimester. Robillard participated in student council, band and Link Crew. He intends to pursue a degree in engineering.

Robillard has devoted significant amounts of time to coaching youth football and baseball teams and camps. He has traveled to serve on mission trips and hurricane cleanup. Robillard’s other community involvement has included Special Olympics, Feed My Starving Children and bingo for a crisis pregnancy center.

The Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation will host the 11th Annual Minnesota Football Honors on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Presented by the Minnesota Vikings, it is the state’s largest football awards event. Doors open at 2 p.m. for the 4 p.m. event, which is open to the public. Tickets are on sale now.
