MINNEAPOLIS, MN - March 12, 2018 -  The Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation is pleased to announce Hinckley-Finlayson High School student Trevor Johnson as a 2018 Scholar Athlete. Johnson and the other winners, chosen for academic excellence, leadership and community involvement, will be recognized at the 11th Annual Minnesota Football Honors on April 29 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

“Trevor Johnson has been an anchor to the building of the Hinckley-Finlayson football program the past four years,” Jaguars coach Brad Hopkins said. “A player that displays versatility to do whatever is needed for the team. Not a flashy player, but his actions on and off the field are what a young athlete can look up to. Trevor is a well deserving athlete for all he has done on the field, in the classroom and in his community.”

Johnson is a three-time all-conference and all-district honoree. The outside linebacker and wide receiver was named team defensive MVP as a junior and team offensive MVP as a senior. Johnson hauled in 88 receptions, including 18 touchdowns, and made 181 tackles and 17 receptions during his career. He has earned all-conference accolades in both basketball and baseball. Johnson will continue his baseball career at St. Thomas.

The president of Hinckley-Finlayson’s National Honor Society, Johnson ranks first in his class. He is also the president of the student leadership team and participates in student council. He plans to study biology with a pre-med track in college.

Johnson has given back to the community through mission trips around the country. Other volunteer involvement has included being on the Northeastern Minnesota LYO board, Sunday school teaching, Habitat for Humanity, Bike MS, and more.

The Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation will host the 11th Annual Minnesota Football Honors on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Presented by the Minnesota Vikings, it is the state’s largest football awards event. Doors open at 2 p.m. for the 4 p.m. event, which is open to the public. Tickets are on sale now.
