MINNEAPOLIS, MN – April 1, 2016 - Kiefer Miller of Nevis High School has been selected by the Minnesota Chapter of the Football National Football Foundation as one of this year’s Scholar Athletes. The eight winners, chosen for academic excellence, leadership and community involvement, will be recognized at the 9th Annual Minnesota Football Honors event April 17 at the Hilton Minneapolis.

Miller, a running back and linebacker, was selected to the 9-Man All-State Team and the Minnesota Vikings’ All-State Team as a senior. He was also named all-district, and his sub-district’s most valuable back. Miller was an all-state honorable mention and all-conference choice as a junior. He is a two-time team captain and standout performer for both the Tigers’ hockey and track and field squads.

Miller has earned academic all-state recognition in both football and track. He is a four-year academic letterwinner and a member of National Honor Society. He will graduate with Exemplary Honors and complete his Associate of Arts Degree this year. Miller intends to major in biology for pre-dentistry at Concordia College in Moorhead.

In the community, Miller has participated regularly as a Unified partner for multiple Special Olympics sports. He has volunteered much of his time with local youth football, hockey and track as well. Miller has served as a science fair judge and assisted at the elementary school chemical health fair, and he takes on leadership roles in his other extracurricular activities. Kiefer’s parents are Phillip and Tamara.

The 9th Annual Minnesota Football Honors event is presented by the Minnesota Vikings. College and professional football Hall of Fame inductees are scheduled to attend, and WCCO-TV news personality Frank Vascellaro will return for his ninth year as Master of Ceremonies.
