MINNEAPOLIS, MN – March 31, 2016 - Harding High School’s Andrew Haldeman has been selected by the Minnesota Chapter of the Football National Football Foundation as one of this year’s Scholar Athletes. The eight winners, chosen for academic excellence, leadership and community involvement, will be recognized at the 9th Annual Minnesota Football Honors event April 17th at the Hilton Minneapolis.

Haldeman started all four years at center for the Knights. He earned all-conference honors his junior and senior seasons, serving as a team captain both those years. Haldeman played linebacker on the other side of the ball. He also wrestles and plays baseball for Harding.

In the classroom, Haldeman has been on the A honor roll each year of high school while taking several accelerated and International Baccalaureate (IB) classes. Haldeman is a National Honor Society member. He plans to continue his education at St. John’s University.

Haldeman’s community involvement includes helping his fellow students as a tutor. He has also put in 100 hours of work toward becoming an Eagle Scout. The Vikings recognized Haldeman as a Community Captain, and he donated the money to Children’s Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota. Andrew’s parents are Margaret and John.

The 9th Annual Minnesota Football Honors event is presented by the Minnesota Vikings. College and professional football Hall of Fame inductees are scheduled to attend, and WCCO-TV news personality Frank Vascellaro will return for his ninth year as Master of Ceremonies.
