MINNEAPOLIS, MN – March 31, 2016 - Monticello High School senior Conner Olson has been selected by the Minnesota Chapter of the Football National Football Foundation as one of this year’s Scholar Athletes. The eight winners, chosen for academic excellence, leadership and community involvement, will be recognized at the 9th Annual Minnesota Football Honors event April 17th at the Hilton Minneapolis.

As a member of the offensive line, Olson collected individual accolades as he helped pave the way for a 10-2 Magic team that averaged 39.6 points per game last fall. Olson was an AP and Minnesota Vikings All-State selection and Blue-Grey High School All-American. He earned North Central White Division MVP and multiple all-metro honors. Olson, who was also on Monticello’s hockey and track and field teams, has accepted a football scholarship to the University of Minnesota.

Olson’s academic success matches his success on the gridiron. He is a perpetual A honor roll student who has earned academic all-conference recognition in all three of his sports. Olson plans to study molecular biology at Minnesota.

A student council member and peer leader, Olson has volunteered his time as a church youth group leader and youth football coach and official. He has also dedicated time to park restoration and a veterans memorial project. Conner’s parents are Tim and Isabelle.

The 9th Annual Minnesota Football Honors event is presented by the Minnesota Vikings. College and professional football Hall of Fame inductees are scheduled to attend, and WCCO-TV news personality Frank Vascellaro will return for his ninth year as Master of Ceremonies. The event is open to the public. To register or for additional information about this year’s Minnesota Football Honors, please visit www.minnesotafootballhonors.com.
