MINNEAPOLIS, MN – March 6, 2016 - After winning the 2015 Class 2A state title, Caledonia Area High School  was named the Minnesota Football Program of the Year by the Minnesota Vikings and Innovative Office Solutions. The Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation will also recognize Caledonia at the 9th Annual Minnesota Football Honors on April 17 at the Hilton Minneapolis.

The Warriors capped off their 14-0 season with a state tournament run that saw them outscore opponents 131-6 in three games. They captured their seventh state championship in program history with a 40-0 win against Pipestone at TCF Bank Stadium. Caledonia has won six of the past nine Class 2A crowns.

Sophomore quarterback Owen King’s appearance on the AP All-State First Team highlighted a slew of postseason awards for Caledonia. Head coach Brent Schroeder was named Co-Coach of the Year by the La Crosse Tribune. Tanner Gran was named district MVP, while King was named Offensive Player of the Year, Zeke Ott was Defensive Player of the Year and Hunter Hoscheit was Lineman of the Year. Several additional Warriors claimed Three Rivers Conference accolades.

The 9th Annual Minnesota Football Honors event is presented by the Minnesota Vikings. College and professional football Hall of Fame inductees are scheduled to attend, and WCCO-TV news personality Frank Vascellaro will return for his ninth year as Master of Ceremonies.
