JOSH GORDON NAMED MINNESOTA FOOTBALL HONORS BOBBY BELL COLLEGE IMPACT PLAYER OF THE YEAR

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – March 6, 2016 - Josh Gordon, an All-American defensive end for Minnesota State, will receive the Bobby Bell College Impact Player of the Year Award from the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. The award will be presented at the 9th Annual Minnesota Football Honors on April 17 at the Hilton Minneapolis.

Gordon led the Mavericks with 22.5 tackles for loss and 14 sacks as a senior. The Milwaukee native notched 58 tackles, two forced fumbles and two interceptions, including a 53-yard return for a touchdown. Gordon helped lead Minnesota State to a 10-2 record and Division II NCAA Tournament First Round appearance.

For the second year in a row, Gordon captured American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America accolades. He also received All-America laurels from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) and D2football.com. Gordon was a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, which recognizes the top lineman in Division II football.

Gordon holds Minnesota State career records with 63 tackles for loss and 43 sacks. He was tabbed NSIC Defensive Player of the Year in both of his last two years with the Mavericks.

The 9th Annual Minnesota Football Honors event is presented by the Minnesota Vikings. College and professional football Hall of Fame inductees are scheduled to attend, and WCCO-TV news personality Frank Vascellaro will return for his ninth year as Master of Ceremonies.
