MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Sept. 18, 2025 – Star Tribune sports writer Patrick Reusse has been named this year’s recipient of the Sid Hartman Media Award by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. Reusse will be recognized during this summer’s Minnesota Football Honors television broadcast.

Reusse’s columns keep Minnesotans connected with their favorite teams. If you say Reusse, everyone instantly knows who you’re talking about,” said Todd Fultz, President of the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. “We can’t wait to hear Reusse’s football stories when we honor him during this summer’s Minnesota Football Honors television broadcast.”
Minneapolis Star Tribune senior columnist Patrick Reusse has been a sportswriter since 1965. Since then, Reusse has chronicled nearly all of the big sports moments across Minnesota. He has built lasting relationships with numerous sports figures, telling their stories through a variety of mediums. Reusse is not only known for his extensive newspaper career but also for his significant contributions to radio broadcasting on KSTP-AM 1500. As a writer, Patrick’s unique writing style helps him tell stories in a creative way. Reusse identifies quality interview subjects, finds underexplored angles and helps readers understand who those people are off the field. Over the years, Patrick has chronicled countless high school, college and Vikings stories from across the state. Reusse’s knack for discovering quality stories and delivering them in his distinctive style has cemented his status as a fixture in the Twin Cities sports writing community. Additionally, Reusse is known for his columns that weave together history, humor and current sports topics. In 2019, Patrick was inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame for his outstanding contributions to local sports broadcasting. Reusse also earned the Herb Carneal Lifetime Achievement Award from the Minnesota Twins in 2022.
The Sid Hartman Media Award honors the late Sid Hartman, a Twin Cities media legend for more than 75 years.
