FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – June 28, 2022 –  Bemidji State quarterback Brandon Alt has been named the Division II Bobby Bell College Impact Player of the Year by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation.

This award is presented annually to the top Division II college football player in Minnesota. Alt, a Cottage Grove, Minn., native, will be recognized during this summer’s Minnesota Football Honors show.

“Brandon Alt made significant contributions to his team and was clearly one of the best players in Division II football last season. He emerged as a top quarterback at both the regional and national levels,” said Todd Fultz, President of the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. “We look forward to honoring Brandon during this summer’s television broadcast.”

Brandon Alt, a star quarterback for the Bemidji State Beavers, turned heads during the 2021 season. Alt passed for 4,245 yards and 46 touchdowns, becoming just the 20th player in NCAA Division II history to throw for at least 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns in a single season. The Beavers’ team captain also broke the NSIC single-season passing touchdown record and set Bemidji State’s single-season records for passing yards and completions.

Alt finished fifth in Harlon Hill Trophy voting and ended the season ranked second nationally in passing touchdowns and yards. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound quarterback also earned D2CCA All-Super Region 4 Second Team, NSIC North Division All-Conference Second Team Offense and two-time NSIC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Minnesota Football Honors is hosting a show later this summer to honor its high school, college and Minnesota Vikings award winners. Full broadcast details will be announced in the coming weeks on www.minnesotafootballhonors.com.
