FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – June 21, 2022 –  University of Minnesota offensive lineman Blaise Andries has been named the Stein-Fallon College Scholar Athlete by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation.

The award, which highlights outstanding academic, athletic and community service accomplishments, is presented annually to one senior student-athlete from a Minnesota college or university. Andries, a Marshall, Minn., native, will be recognized during this summer’s Minnesota Football Honors show on Bally Sports North.

“We are thrilled to honor Blaise for his outstanding accomplishments on the field, in the classroom and community,” said Todd Fultz, President of the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. “He has achieved at the highest levels academically and embodies everything that this award is all about.”

Blaise Andries became a cornerstone player along the Gophers’ offensive line. Andries started 46 career games and played every offensive line position except center. He posted five starts at left tackle, 11 at left guard, 21 at right guard and nine at right tackle. Each week, the Marshall native’s versatility, physicality and intelligence made a mark on Minnesota’s rushing attack. Andries’ outstanding play earned him 2021 All-Big Ten First Team (Media) and Associated Press All-Big Ten Second Team honors. Following the 2021 season, Blaise entered the NFL Draft and was signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent.

Off the field, Andries excelled in the classroom and community. Blaise graduated with a degree in Mathematics - Actuarial Science and is pursuing a master’s degree in Applied Business Analytics from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. Andries, a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, was also named a three-time Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors Association of America (CoSIDA). More specifically, Blaise earned CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team honors in 2020 and 2021, becoming the first Gopher to receive that honor twice.

Minnesota Football Honors is hosting a show later this summer to honor its high school, college and Minnesota Vikings award winners. Full broadcast details will be announced in the coming weeks on www.minnesotafootballhonors.com.
