MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – May 10, 2021 – The Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation is pleased to announce Randall and Marianne McDaniel as this year’s recipients of the Bud Grant Distinguished Minnesotan Award. Randall and Marianne will be honored during a television broadcast in the first part of May. 

“We are thrilled to present this award to Randall and Marianne McDaniel for the difference they have made in our local community and world. Both of them have used their platforms to change the lives of others,” said Todd Fultz, President of the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. “Randall and Marianne illustrate the power we have to make lives and days brighter for those around us. We are very proud to honor them for their continued impact on our state and nation.”

Minnesota Vikings great Randall McDaniel has always used his platform to make a difference. McDaniel and his wife, Marianne, created Team McDaniel, a volunteer program designed to promote the idea of community service among young people. Randall and Marianne aim to help kids learn life skills while using their talents to make a difference in the lives of others. Students in sixth through eighth grade volunteer at senior citizen facilities, hunger organizations, elementary schools and community centers located primarily within the Robbinsdale School District.  

Randall and Marianne also give back through the nonprofit, Opens Arms Home for Children. The organization provides love and security to South African children orphaned by the AIDS pandemic. Open Arms Home for Children places 6-8 children in cottages with a permanent house mother or father. The children go to preschool on their property and eventually attend elementary, high school and college in the larger community. Each year, the Randall McDaniel Charity Golf Classic also raises money for Open Arms Home for Children. 

Randall and Marianne’s love for education and youth development has spread throughout the Twin Cities. Their contributions and programs continue to leave a lasting impact on local youth. 

Minnesota Football Honors is hosting a show to honor this year’s high school, college and Minnesota Vikings award winners. Special guests will be featured, including Vikings players. An official broadcast date will be announced soon on www.minnesotafootballhonors.com.
