FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – April 23, 2021 –  Barnesville High School’s Adam Tonsfeldt has been named a Scholar-Athlete by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation.

This annual award honors Minnesota high school football players for their outstanding athletic, academic and community service accomplishments. Tonsfeldt, a native of Barnesville, Minnesota, is one of eight scholar-athletes who will be recognized during an upcoming television broadcast.

“Adam has made an impressive impact on the football field, but also has a long list of excellent academic and community accolades. He is one of the best our state has to offer,” said Todd Fultz, President of the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. “It is great to connect with every region of our football community, including northwest Minnesota.”

Adam Tonsfeldt was a star quarterback and safety for the Barnesville Trojans football program. He posted a 30-4 career record and led his team to a state championship and semifinal. Tonsfeldt was recognized as a three-time All-District, All-Section and All-Academic selection. He also earned a spot on the 2020 Minnesota Vikings All-State Team and was named a Mr. Football finalist.

“Adam is not only an amazing athlete, but truly a good person inside and out,” said Barnesville head coach Bryan Strand. “Character and leadership are some things that I think separate this young man from others. He treats everyone he meets with respect and is truly a kind person.”

Off the field, Adam is actively involved in his community. He volunteers at the local food shelf, helps with youth sports camps and buys Christmas gifts for deserving families in the area. Tonsfeldt also accumulated a 3.91 GPA and earned Academic All-State (2020) honors for his outstanding academic accomplishments.

Minnesota Football Honors is hosting a show to honor this year’s high school, college and Minnesota Vikings award winners. Special guests will be featured, including Vikings players. An official broadcast date will be announced soon on www.minnesotafootballhonors.com.
