MINNEAPOLIS, MN - April 17, 2019 - Mark Rosen has been named the Sid Hartman Media Award recipient by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. He will be recognized at the 12th Annual Minnesota Football Honors on Saturday, April 27 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Rosen retired from WCCO-TV this past winter after a 50-year career in sports broadcasting. He first showed up at the WCCO studio as a junior in high school in 1969, and landed a full-time position while attending classes at the University of Minnesota. Rosen is a 2013 inductee of the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame. “Rosen’s Sports Sunday” was a long-time local TV staple, as he hosted some form of the weekly sports show for 35 years.

During his career, Rosen covered major events like 1980 Olympic men’s hockey, both of the Twins’ World Series victories, the arrival of the Timberwolves to the Minnesota sports scene, Lynx WNBA titles, Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis and many more. He devoted countless hours to football coverage, whether it was a game day or Vikings training camp. Rosen co-hosted football recap shows with the likes of Bud Grant and Ahmad Rashad, providing some of the most in-depth day-of-game coverage of the Vikings at the time.

For decades Rosen brought viewers his perspective from the “best seat in the house.” He has been honored with multiple Upper Midwest Emmy Awards, and has built relationships and earned respect for his kindness and professionalism. Although he has retired from WCCO to spend more time with his wife, Denise, Rosen can still be heard on the radio airwaves with a few KFAN shows.

The Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation will host the 12th Annual Minnesota Football Honors on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The event is presented by the Minnesota Vikings and is the largest football awards event in Minnesota. Doors open at 2 p.m. for the 4 p.m. event.
