ETHAN RICE NAMED A SCHOLAR ATHLETE

The St. Michael-Albertville senior will be recognized at the Minnesota Football Honors event on April 27.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - April 3, 2019 - Ethan Rice of St. Michael-Albertville High School has been named a Scholar Athlete by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. He and the other honorees will be recognized at the 12th Annual Minnesota Football Honors on Saturday, April 27 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Rice was part of a state championship and three section championships in his time with the Knights. He started for three of his four varsity seasons and had a total record of 37-9. Rice was an all-district honoree and a team captain as a senior. He showed versatility during his career, playing linebacker, defensive tackle and fullback. Rice also competed in basketball, weightlifting, wrestling and track & field at some point during high school.

In the classroom Rice has been on the “A” honor roll while taking Advanced Placement and College in the Schools courses. He is an Academic All-State selection and National Honor Society member. Rice plans to study actuarial science at the University of St. Thomas.

Community involvement for Rice has included serving as a freshman mentor and a science and math tutor for younger students. He has worked with youth sports including roles as a coach and umpire. Rice has also volunteered through Feed My Starving Children, Adopt a Highway and more.

The Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation will host the 12th Annual Minnesota Football Honors on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The event is presented by the Minnesota Vikings and is the largest football awards event in Minnesota. Doors open at 2 p.m. for the 4 p.m. event.
