• National:  1967 First Team All-American; 1968 First Team All-American by the Walter Camp Foundation (team not recognized by NCAA until 1972), Football Writer’s Assoc of America, UPI,1969 East-West Shrine Game, 1969 Hula Bowl
   
• Conference (Big Ten):  Two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection; Led MN to 1967 co-Big Ten title

• University:  Defensive stats not recorded at time; Also placekicker, recording then longest field goal in school history (40 yards)

 ACADEMIC HONORS:  1969 NFF National Scholar-Athlete; 1967,1968 Academic All-American,  Rhodes Scholarship semi-finalist, 1969 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient; Three-time Academic All-Big Ten.  U of M Honor Society president, Student Leadership Award and Henry L. Williams Scholarship winner.

 COLLEGE/POST GRADUATE DEGREES:  B.S. Political Science, 1970; Earned law degree from University of Missouri, Kansas City, graduating in top 10% of 1973 class while playing for the KC Chiefs,

 POST-COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CAREER:  Drafted in the fifth round of the 1969 NFL Draft by Kansas City; Played eight seasons with five franchises, including 1970 Chiefs Super Bowl champions.

 CURRENT CAREER:  Attorney at Law, telecommunications consultant

CIVIC SERVICE:  Has served on boards of the Children’s Cancer Research Fund (10 yrs), Operation Smile MN/Children’s Surgery International (10 yrs), Hunger Related Events (16 yrs), MN Boxing Commission (7 yrs), Jacob Wetterling Foundation (10 yrs), U of M National Alumni Assoc (8 yrs). President, MN Timberwolves Foundation (6 yrs).  “M” Club Board (8 yrs); Assembly Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics; Co-Founded U of M Goal Line Club, the official Minnesota football booster group (1983); Member of the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Alumni Association.

 NOTABLES:  Founding President/CEO of the NBA Minnesota Timberwolves; member of National Jewish Sports, St. Louis Park HS and University of Minnesota Sports Halls of Fame and the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Honor Roll of World Champions; At age 21, he was youngest player to ever play in the Super Bowl (1970); Top Minnesota College Scholar Athlete is given the Bob Stein Scholar Athlete Award.
